Meet Dr. Sternberg (Board Certified Plastic Surgeon)

Dr. Sternberg returned to Jacksonville after completing a two year fellowship in plastic surgery at the prestigious Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Learning from some of America’s preeminent professors of plastic surgery, Dr. Sternberg has acquired the skills and technical capabilities needed to perform a vast array of complex surgical procedures. Specializing in both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, he brings to Jacksonville the latest and most advanced techniques in plastic surgery encompassing all parts of the body.

Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Sternberg graduated magna cum laude with a degree in microbiology from the University of Georgia. He then earned his doctorate in medicine from the Medical College of Georgia. He came to Jacksonville in 2002 to pursue a five year residency in general surgery at the Mayo Clinic. From removing burst appendices and transplanting livers to extensive cancer surgeries, these experiences and others have all played a role in his continued emphasis on patient care and surgical excellence. He is board certified by both the American Board of Surgery and is also a Diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Sternberg has published several papers in the general and plastic surgery literature, including a book chapter on lasers and radio frequency therapy. He has also presented the results of his research on breast reconstruction at a meeting of the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He now calls Jacksonville Beach home with his wife, Rebekah Richmond, a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist and his newborn son Rex.
